Integrate Jenkins with TestShell

Jenkins through TestShell

There are multiple ways to interface Jenkins from TestShell (or CLI)

• Use REST API
• Use Python wrapper
• Use Java command line

Using REST API

For creating the session use the base URL (http://localhost:8080)

Use the 'Request' function to interface - the Resource should have a value of the url that follows the base url. Some examples below (sample studio test attached)

• /job/JobName/build

• to trigger a build

/job/JobName/lastBuild

• to access the last build

/job/JobName/console

• to access the console output

etc..

 

Using Python API Wrapper

Have not used this in testshell but here are few functions that might be useful.

Before using Python API, python API has to be downloaded form thislink

 

from jenkinsapi.jenkins import Jenkins

def start_job(jenkins_url, jobname):

    server = Jenkins(jenkins_url)
    server[jobname].invoke()

 

def get_console(jenkins_url, jobname):
    server = Jenkins(jenkins_url)
    server[jobname].get_last_build().get_console()

 

if __name__ == '__main__':

    url = 'http://localhost:8080'

    job = 'JobName'

    start_job(url, jobname)

    get_console(url, jobname)

Using Java CLI

To use the java CLI, jenkins-cli.jar has to be downloaded. Download link will be available on the jenkins installation machine (look in http://localhost:8080/api)

Also, make sure java sdk is installed so that you have java.exe 

Some CLI examples below (studio sample attached)

• > java.exe -jar jenkins-cli.jar http://localhost:8080/ build JobName

• to trigger a build

> java.exe -jar jenkins-cli.jar http://localhost:8080/ console JobName

• to access the console output of the last build
