I am using Quali to map layer-1 switch ports between Calient S320's. All works well when configuring one port on one switch to ports on the same switch. However, when configuring between verified (known good) ports between the two S320 switches it comes up in a one-way condition. Fiber has been tested and is good. Single mode fiber to all router transcievers, and between the two Calient devices. Quali seems to map all of the corresponding ports correctly. However one side always has complete signal loss.
Has anyone fought this battle before? It is doing this across multiple ports on all parts of the switch. The switch and Quali do recognize these ports as 'transit' ports too. There is just about zero documentation that I can find for this type of inter-connectivity yet the software and hardware both are recognizing these as 'transit'.

We fixed this once the Calient rep looked at our setup Ports were mismapped :) for the transit connections. Very simple fix under my nose. We are now mapping inter-switch between 3 Calients in our lab using Quali!

So when you verify the mappings in the two switches, it shows you that the mapping was done correctly between these 4 ports (2 on each switch)?
How many inter-connections do you have? does it happen only in some of them if you have multiple ones?

Hi Yaniv,
Indeed it does show bi-directional connections. Two ports on each switch when config one connection. I have one router on one switch, and one on the other. The two L1 switches are connected via a couple fibers on dedicated ports. Quali moves to each open transit port as new connections are made. But I am only getting light in one direction. I verified local connectivity proving the fiber and transciever optics between end routers and their respective switches. Also ran two new fiber between switches and testing with pulse (visible light) and light meter. I looked at Calient mapping. I statically mapped the ports between the two L1 switches in Quali via the Calient driver in Resource manager. I don't know what we are doing wrong.
I have 3 router devices, all single-mode and two transit ports between calients. Each one gets the same condition. Moved to different ports and the same persists. I also measured with a light meter and our original Calient that has been operational for months appears to be sending full strength to the newer Calient. However from the newer Calient to the original one I am not seeing any light. If this were a bad Calient chassis I should not be able to get ports running locally between endpoints.
Not sure if it's a software problem or a physical issue with the switch. My guess would be to the latter. But I'm wondering if anyone has done with the the L1- Calient driver shell successfully before?

I also think it might be something physical, but you can also try to check:
1. connect 2 routers to calient1 and create a mapping between the 2 to make sure it works well
2. connect 2 routers to calient2 and create a mapping between the 2 to make sure it works well
